Not surprising when you consider that food is our energy and potential source, and that it fuels our brains, our organs, and basically controls many things in our lives that we don’t necessarily want to confess it has control by. I know for me, as an adult, whether I eat a bag of chips for a snack vs a balanced snack of fruits, proteins and perhaps some heatlhy carbs, I cannot focus after that. whether I would have fueled my brain with the premium unleaded in other words, or ultra, my brain would have worked a heck of a lot better than whether I used the lowest grade gasoline possible (to compose a lame anology, sorry for that!)

There have been studies that show that healthy fats such as omega 3’s which are found in lean fish, some whole grains, assured types of veggies, and other high powered nutrients, actually enhance the brain’s facilities, and enhance it’s performance. Not only that, these forceful healthy fats help to balance mood, and can dramatically help with the improvement of one’s blood sugar. Makes sense when you think about how mentally foggy you get and forgetful when you are hungry and your blood sugar is low.

This does give more credence to the fact that many schools have now taken the vending machines with junk food out of their schools all together, and replaced unhealthy carfeteria menu options like pizza, stick buns and cheeseburgers with healthier and more completely nutritional options. Some schools have even kept the vending machines but added only healthy options instead of rubbish, hoping to help enhance these kid’s mental performance.
